The first fully online, asynchronous undergraduate degree at Georgetown University
A few details
I led the instructional design for Georgetown’s inaugural fully-online, asynchronous undergraduate degree, offered through the School of Continuing Studies and delivered via Coursera.
Some special
The Bachelor of Liberal Studies includes 120 credit hours across humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary studies. Courses were built for asynchronous, mobile-first delivery to support working adults and nontraditional students.
How I solved it
I worked closely with faculty, Coursera, and internal teams to ensure consistency, quality, and accessibility across courses. My team also facilitated faculty development and guided the adoption of best practices for online teaching.
Female Rulers from Antiquity to Today
[As a single mom], I’m excited to be able to take this class and hand down the knowledge I can gain to build my daughter’s esteem and individuality as well as champion the power of women to my son, [which] would be a step in the right direction.

I knew I wanted to revisit my education to improve my skills. I just knew getting my degree would help me learn how to be more efficient and effective in completing my work…I would absolutely encourage anyone that wants to get their degree to come to this program. You won’t be disappointed.

Georgetown does everything to provide online students with every resource that they’d get if they were on campus, and it’s amazing…I hope to advance further in my career. I knew I wanted to complete my bachelor’s, and this was just the right time to do it. I want to stand out amongst my peers, and a Georgetown degree can help me do that.

Since I am a working mom, I wouldn’t be able to continue my education without a flexible program like this one…I really do love the instructors. They are kind and supportive and I know I am getting the best education experience in the country.
